Strong demand, tight supply lift China lysine prices

Prices rose significantly during the week ended September 16.

Expanding livestock population and the fattening of hog and broilers for releases before the Mid-Autumn Festival and October holidays drove up the demand for feed and subsequently lysine. Hence, lysine prices rose significantly amid strong demand and tight supplies.

Average transacted price was at RMB14.56/kg, higher by RMB0.71/kg compared with the previous week.

Lysine demand will continue to be buoyant with soymeal prices high and animal inventories on the rise.
